Enhanced Console Displays and
PC Interface
AutoConsole's enhanced console support and Windows-based PC interface
transform the standard OS/400 message queue facilities. From a single
display, the system operator can view all message queues simultaneously
for any System i processor in your network, anywhere in the world.
Messages can be displayed in many different sequences including
job order, severity order, chronologically, etc. Messages can be
colour coded so that critical messages can be identified even if
the operator is away from their console for some reason.
Message Queue Monitoring
Once AutoConsole is installed you can choose to monitor all, or
just some, of your non-program message queues. Sophisticated filtering
techniques enable you to decide which messages should be displayed
and which 'thrown away'. You can also decide how AutoConsole should
action these messages, perhaps by automatically issuing a reply,
routing it to other users or one of six other options. Perhaps a
tape mount has not been actioned within a specific time and you
want to alert somebody that it has been overlooked. AutoConsole
will do this for you through its message escalation facility.
Message Translation
Perhaps you would like to make life easier for your less sophisticated
users by generating messages which they can understand rather than
issuing the coded speak of a system or application-generated
message? AutoConsole's message translation capability allows you
to define an alternative message text for display in place of the
system or application generated offering.
Full Audit Capabilities
All message activity is recorded by AutoConsole and provides a comprehensive
audit trail for future reference. You can always identify how messages
were actioned, when and by whom. This is a considerable improvement
over OS/400 where, once a message has been removed, there is no
evidence that it ever existed.
