Disk Space Analyser
Technical Features
Full Network Support
Disk Space Analyser is designed for use over a network of System i
processors, or on a single System i, as required. The product can
be distributed to and installed on remote machines across a network
from a central server machine.
Client/Server Implementation
When Disk Space Analyser is installed on a network of systems, the
product can be controlled over the network from the server system.
This means that:
- Parameters which determine various aspects of operating Disk
Space Analyser on a client system may be sent from the server.
- Data collected from the client system can be viewed at the server.
- Reports produced by any of the systems can be viewed and managed
from the server.
Full Windows-based PC Interface
- DSA-NetVision
Disk usage and graphs for all systems in the network can be viewed
and managed through a graphical user interface from a single PC.
Graphic Presentation of Data
Performance Data can be displayed on the PC as a series of pre-defined
graphs. These can be saved as either GIF or JPG files for use in
documents and presentations.
Automatic Evaluation of Disk Space
Usage
Disk space usage can be evaluated automatically. Libraries can be
grouped into application areas, providing growth analysis by application.
Analysis can be scheduled as required or can be run manually. The
evaluation analyses disk space owned by libraries, objects, files
and file members. Information is also provided on the amount of
space owned by individual users and on when deleted space in a database
reaches a user-defined limit. Total disk space growth
trends can be monitored, enabling disk upgrades to be planned accurately.
The space occupied by various objects which reside outside libraries
can be examined if required by running the RTVDSKINF command.
File Reorganisation
File reorganisation can be scheduled automatically. Deleted space
within files can be removed and files reorganised, providing improved
application and system performance.
Spool File Management
Unwanted spool files can be purged automatically at user-defined
times and after user-defined periods. The RCLSPLSTG
command can also be scheduled to recover space occupied by the deleted
spool files. Optionally, certain user profiles can be excluded from
spool file management.
OfficeVision Document Management
Disk Space Analyser automatically provides statistics on
OfficeVision document sizes and ownership. Documents which have
not been accessed for a user-defined length of time are identified.
Obsolete items can be scheduled for automatic deletion.
Journal Management
Disk Space Analyser improves control over user journals and
receivers. A list of current journals is automatically built during
the evaluation process. Users then specify if old receivers should
be changed or deleted.
Reporting
A comprehensive set of predefined reports shows disk usage
by user, library, application, file, object and deleted records.
Users can schedule the selection and printing of specific reports.
