VPAC/VM allows you to monitor, control and manage your z/VM system in order to improve performance and service levels.
Real-time monitoring facilities enable short-term action to be taken, while long-term capacity planning is achieved through analysis of historical data.
Online system performance monitoring
VPAC/VM can be accessed from any authorized CMS machine to obtain dynamic online displays of current or historical resource usage; extensive displays are available to monitor resources, such as I/O usage and individual users
Exception condition reporting
Thresholds for system and user resources can be set and exception messages produced to alert systems administrators to problems without the need for continuous monitoring; exception monitoring can be enabled and disabled selectively
Resource control
Thresholds can be applied to individual users and groups of users at specific times; when a threshold is exceeded, VPAC/VM will automatically take appropriate action, such as sending a warning message, forcing users off the system or preventing them from logging on at peak times
Resource usage accounting
VPAC/VM produces a number of standard reports to reflect user and system resource usage, accounting for all major resources on selected devices; you can also extract data to create your own reports
